What do you do when a type 2 diabetics sugar gets too low and are confused?

he was confused; couldn't get him to move; was clammy; aware that i was there but did not know what was going on.
Answer:
Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2WebMD Medical News In type 2 diabetes, sometimes referred to as non-insulin-dependent or adult-onset diabetes, the pancreas produces insulin, but the body's cells are resistant to its effects. Because the insulin is unable to move glucose into the cells, the body's blood sugar level becomes abnormally high. Overview The materials in this section have been chosen to provide a solid introduction to your health condition.
911 Imediately 911
Get some sugar into him, try some sugar lumps soaked in lucozade or if he'll drink let him have the lucozade. When he's normal get him to eat a sandwich or something and keep a check on his blood sugar level.
Get him to drink coke, juice or milk, this may sound stupid but, make sure it is not diet! If he is unable to drink, call 911!
If he is unable to drink, get some karo on your fingertip and swab between his gum/cheek. Call 911 and monitor him.
when my dad had that problem gave him a drink of orange juice or a nibble of a vienna finger. they ar ehigh in sugar and would get his levels up quickly. They also sell a paste in most pharmacies specifically for that problem
Have them eat something immediately or drink something. A glass of orange juice, or a small snack will help. If they are real bad do that and get medical help. A diabetic can go into a diabetic coma or suffer shock from letting their blood suger get too far out bounds.
The best, quickest way to get a diabetic who is awake but not all the way lucid is to get him or her to drink orange juice, and plenty of it until he comes around and starts making sense. You don't have to call an ambulance or 911 as long as he is awake and able to drink. IF he is not awake, first call 911 and THEN get some granular sugar, like you'd put in your coffee, and put some of it under his tongue as this will dissolve and hit his brain pretty quickly, and it can also save someone's life. Good friend for asking and wanting to be better prepared for next time.
don't call 911 unless you really need to. I know that sounds awful, but they will take his licence away if you call on him for they will say it is unsafe for him to drive alone...etc. Do call if he is not breathing or has passed out.
Ok but that was my reply to the other person...
my reply to you is- orange juice. If you can get him to drink it. If not, before the next time he is low you need to get a glucose pen from the doctor , in emergencies when a person cannot eat or drink you can inject a type of sugar that will save them from coma. It is easy to use, and saves lives.
Also, go out and buy glucose tabs (CVS, any drug store) and keep some EVERYWHERE, in the house, in the car, in your bag. They are cheap and come in a roll kind of like tums do. If blood sugar gets low have him take one or more. They act fast and are easy to carry and have handy, keep some buy the bed too. Learnmore about Type 2 from a group, you need to feel confidant in what to do if situations.
Best of luck.
That's easy, given him something with real sugar or orange juice.
Have some fruit juice, or regular cola, you need to get your blood sugar levels up. When you feel better, have something to eat.
If he truly couldn't respond in any way (if he couldn't even drink orange juice, any liquid with sugar in it),
get a prescription for Sterile Glucose solution, USP, and insulin syringes from his doctor. Have the doctor also prescribe the number of units of glucose he would need to bring blood glucose up.Practice using the sterile insulin syringes by giving glucose "shots" to an orange (the fruit). If you can learn to administer glucose to him/her using a sterile syringe, and keep it handy, if it ever happens again (or if he actually passes out), you could very well save his life.
In Australia .. call 000 911 is only good in the USWhere ever you are in the world .. call your emergency medical service
^If he can swallow give him a glass of juice or milk, a tablespoon or honey, jelly, regular soda not sugar free etc to get his glucose up, they also make chewable glucose pills. The doctor can prescribe an inject able called glucagon, but you would have to learn how to give it to him. Call 911 or whatever the emergency number is where you live, if he is unresponsive.
